Halff designed the reconstruction of 1.25 miles of North Colony Boulevard from a four-lane undivided thoroughfare to a four-lane divided thoroughfare with dedicated turn lanes at collector streets. The design included roadway and bike trail paving, drainage, water and sanitary sewer replacements, signals, fiber optics, retaining walls/headwalls, and landscape and irrigation. One critical design issue involved intersections with side streets and slip road entrances. A separate bike lane spans both sides of the road. Halff took special care when designing construction sequencing and traffic control plans to avoid disrupting activities at a nearby middle school.
